Mental Health Awareness
In underserved communities Mental Health traditionally goes untreated and as a result families remain uneducated while family members suffer. Chances are everyone knows someone who personally suffers with mental health issues. LYCF will continue to work with NAMI and other mental health organizations to assist the community in realizing the ways mental illness impacts their lives, educate people about available services, and highlights ways to advocate.

Literacy
Promote literacy by helping individuals and families break the cycle of poverty and chronic underemployment. We will also support programs that increase access to quality education and literacy resources, such as after-school programs, literacy workshops and book donations.

Financial Literacy
Provide financial education to students and adults that focus on providing resources in underserved communities who may lack access to traditional banking and financial services. This will include initiatives such as financial counseling, coaching, community-based financial services, partnerships with local banks and credit unions to provide low-cost financial products and services. Break the cycle of poverty to create more equitable and sustainable communities that ensure all individuals have the tools they need to achieve their goals and build a brighter future.

STEM / Science, Technology, Engineering, Math
The global economy is shifting, automation and new jobs are emerging every day because of technological advances and that’s why LYCF supports STEM where the underserved youth and adults can become a part of the evolving landscape, learning skills that will help them thrive as we continuously put our youth in position to become leaders in the field after graduation.

Urban Sustainability
Sustainable Improvement starts with raising the physical, mental, and financial well-being of the community. We accomplish this by focusing our work on an asset-based approach to human services and development that connects the community to resources and information that promotes economic sustainability which will in time bridge the wealth gap within the urban setting.
